The Club lost two long-standing members in 2014. Miriam Phillips, the Club Patron, passed away in May, and Alistair Robb, a founding member, passed away in July. Both are missed for their knowledge of the game, and commitment to the Club.

Plimmerton Bridge Club was formed in May 1981.  Frank Hodson was the instigator of a meeting held in the Pavilion attended by about 15 people.  George McNeillage was appointed auditor and acted until 1986 when Jack Phillips took over for about 20 years.  Presidents are usually appointed for a two year term.  Alistair Robb was the first director of the club.  Over the 30 years of its existence numbers have been maintained at about 25 with comings, goings and returnees.  In recent years this has grown and some evenings there have been 32 players.  A social atmosphere continues.

Over time some formality of rules has been relaxed and the club is more social now than in earlier times.

Members include experienced and learners and a variety of systems are played with Acol being the club system.  Members can choose to play with the same partner continuously or partner up with another member each month.

The fifth Tuesday of each month is Gala Night.  There is a charge of just $4 per night for cards and supper.  The elected committee is always open to suggestions for improvements or information.
