The book features 649 photos, many of them taken by Neil. "We have lived our lives in Porirua, we love this place, and this is our gift to the city," Neil says. Their book is available from Pataka and Paper Plus for $75 (which just covers the printing costs).

    You will have read the many pleas from our firefighters for more volunteers to join the service. Anyone who is around during the day, when the bulk of the current force is away from the district, can be a starter.

    Plimmerton Volunteer Fire brigade needs your help NOW. If you can make yourself available during week days and want to see this vital service continue please call.

    If you have any doubts about your suitability remember almost anyone can do this. Have a chat with any of the team on a Wednesday evening at the station.
