All welcome: North City Country Music Club president Robert Antonio drums in the club band with bassist Lalovi Va and singer Jill Leighton. Kapi-Mana News 22 October 2013 pg 9. Country music to suit all - story and photo by Andrea O'Neil.

From bluegrass to Taylor Swift, there's something for everybody at the North City Country Music Club.

The 100-member club celebrated its fourth birthday on 12 October with a free concert at the Porirua Club, featuring the club's own band and guest band, Short Term Memory. Club president Robert Antonio, who drums for both bands, said the club was growing and attracts a wide range of country music lovers, from new rock-country to old-school ballads.

"We have all ages at our club days. Country music is all about family, promoting good fellowship, friendliness, to foster and encourage the music for all ages," Mr Antonio said.

Once a month the club meets at Porirua Club to jam, allowing anybody to sing a song of their choice with the club band.

"If you love the music and want to know more, just come on down."
